Privacy policy
Effective October 8, 2026
Upbeat Together is a health habit app where Kiran, an AI coach, chats with you about daily walks, everyday food, sleep and other small habits, and you can invite friends to join you. It is published by Qubinary Innovations LLP ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Upbeat Together app and this website, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
What we collect
Account details
- Your mobile number, which we verify with a one-time code sent on WhatsApp.
- If you sign in with Google, the name and email address on your Google account.
Profile you give us
- Name, age, sex (or "prefer not to say"), language and time zone.
- Health areas you choose to work on, such as blood pressure, blood sugar, thyroid, PCOS, joint pain, sleep, stress or digestion.
What you do in the app
- Your chats with Kiran, including any photos or files you send.
- Habits, programs, reminders and the activities you log, such as glasses of water or walks.
- Your daily step goal, the walking groups you create or join, and when you joined them.
- Health records you upload (PDFs or photos of reports and prescriptions), and the details we read from them, such as test names, values and dates.
- Notes Kiran keeps so she can remember context between chats, such as your goals and facts from your records.
- If a message suggests you may be at risk of harm, a short excerpt of it so we can respond with safety resources.
Meals and nutrition
- Meals you log, in the Nutrition tab or by sending them to Kiran in chat: the photo you take or choose, or the description you type, and the food items, portions, calories, protein, carbs and fat worked out from it.
- If you set daily targets: your height, weight, goal (lose, maintain or gain weight), activity level, and your age and sex if we do not already have them. We use these to work out your daily calorie and nutrient targets.
- The app asks for camera or photo access only when you choose to add a meal photo. It reads only the photo you take or pick, not the rest of your library.
Steps from your phone's health app
- If you choose to connect Health Connect (Android) or Apple Health (iPhone), we read your daily step totals for up to the last 30 days and keep them on our servers. The app asks for your permission first, and you can use Upbeat Together without connecting.
- Step count is the only health data we read from these services. We do not read heart rate, sleep, weight, location, workouts or anything else, and we do not write to them.
- Once connected, the app can read new step totals in the background, so your walks count even when the app is closed.
- When you start a walk in the app, we use your phone's motion sensor to count steps while that walk is open, to show you a live count and a summary. That count stays on your phone.
Premium, invites and gifts
- Your plan, its status, billing dates and the payment and subscription references from our payment provider, Razorpay. We do not receive or store your card, UPI or bank details.
- Your invite code, who invited you, the friends who joined with your code and the free Premium days you have earned or redeemed.
Device and usage information
- A push notification token, so we can send the reminders you set.
- Crash reports and basic device details (model, operating system, app version).
- How you use the app: screens you open, buttons you tap and features you use. We use analytics tools and session recordings of app screens to find what is confusing or broken.
- On Android, the Play Store install referrer, which tells us if you installed from an invite link.
How we use it
- To create your account, sign you in and keep it secure.
- To have Kiran reply to you, personalise habits and programs, and send the reminders you choose.
- To read your uploaded records and use what they say in your chats with Kiran.
- To estimate the calories and nutrients in the meals you log, show them against your daily targets, and let Kiran answer questions about what you have eaten.
- To show your steps against your daily goal, count active days and streaks, and rank you on your walking groups' boards and the "Everyone on Upbeat" board.
- To process payments, manage your plan, and give you invite and gift rewards.
- To respond if a message suggests you may be at risk, by showing helpline information.
- To fix bugs, prevent abuse, and improve the app.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your health information for advertising.
Step data from Health Connect and Apple Health is used only to provide the walking features described here. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or pass it to data brokers, and it is not used to decide your eligibility for credit, insurance or employment.
AI processing
Kiran's replies are generated by AI. Your messages, together with relevant parts of your profile, habits and records, are processed by our AI service, which runs on Microsoft Azure OpenAI. Uploaded records are read by Google Gemini to extract their contents. These providers process the data to give you a response on our behalf.
When you log a meal, its photo or description is sent to the same AI service on Microsoft Azure OpenAI, which names the food and estimates its calories and nutrients. These numbers are estimates, not measurements. You can correct them before saving, and they are not dietary or medical advice.
Kiran is not a doctor. Her guidance is general and is not a diagnosis or treatment. Always check with a qualified doctor about your health.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run Upbeat Together:
- Google Cloud and Firebase: hosting, databases and file storage, sign-in, push notifications, crash reports and AI reading of records (Gemini).
- Aiven: managed database hosting.
- Microsoft: Azure OpenAI for Kiran's replies and meal estimates, and Clarity for app session recordings.
- Mixpanel: product analytics, processed on its servers in the European Union.
- Meta (WhatsApp): delivering your sign-in code.
- Razorpay: payments and subscriptions.
When you join with a friend's invite, that friend sees your first name, whether you have finished setting up or gone Premium, and the date you joined. They never see your phone number.
If you connect your steps, other people can see some of your walking activity:
- Walking groups: members of a group you create or join see the name on your profile, when you joined, and your step totals and number of active days for the current day, week and month. Anyone with the group's invite code can join.
- Everyone on Upbeat: everyone signed in to the app can see the name on your profile with your step totals and number of active days for the current day, week and month.
They never see your phone number, health areas, records, chats, meals, weight or nutrition targets.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply.
Where it is stored
Our application servers run in India (Google Cloud, Mumbai region). Some service providers, such as Mixpanel, Microsoft and Google, may process data in other countries. We use reputable providers that protect data under their own security and privacy commitments.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days. We keep payment and invoice records for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, and may keep limited information where needed to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or meet other legal obligations.
Your choices and rights
- Turn off reminders and notifications in the app's settings or your phone's settings.
- Stop sharing steps at any time by removing Upbeat Together's access in Health Connect or Apple Health on your phone. We stop receiving new steps, and you drop off the boards once you have no steps in the current day, week or month. To erase steps we already hold, email us.
- Leave a walking group from the group's page in the app.
- Remove an uploaded record from your list in the app. To have the file and its details erased from our systems, email us.
- Delete a logged meal from the Nutrition tab, and change your height, weight, goal or targets there at any time. To have a meal photo erased from our systems, email us.
- Access, correct or delete your personal information, including your chats, or withdraw consent, by emailing us. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can also nominate someone to exercise these rights for you.
Deleting your account
Email life.aradhana@gmail.com from any address and include the mobile number on your account, with the subject "Delete my Upbeat Together account". We may ask you to confirm the request. We will delete your account and personal information within 30 days, except what we must keep by law as described above. Deleting the app from your phone, or signing out, does not delete your account. The steps are also on our delete your account page.
Security
We use access controls and secure connections (HTTPS) to protect your information, and limit access to people who need it to run the service. No system is completely secure, so please keep your phone and WhatsApp account secure, and tell us if you think your account has been misused.
Age
Upbeat Together is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell you in the app if the changes are significant.
Contact and grievances
For privacy questions, requests or complaints, contact our grievance officer atlife.aradhana@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
